Living Legend - Dorothy Calegari... continued from previous page
an assistant role, and it has been a great pleasure to see how she has grown and taken the lead in much of the work they do for us,
encouraged all the way, no doubt, by Dorothy. Together they are unbeatable.

Dorothy, you are the greatest, and I’m more than lucky, I’m goddamned lucky to count you as a friend!

        From George Lindesmith_
I have known Dorothy for at least 40 years. We have worked together on projects for NALS many times. I really enjoyed working with
her on conference committees for several WESFEDCLSA and NALS joint conferences. She has always been a valuable supporter of both
CLSA and NALS. Her ideas and never-ending energy in support of our profession has been continuous over the 40 years I have known
her. I can’t think of a more valuable asset for our professional organizations. She has long deserved recognition for her hard work and
dedication to us and our profession. I am extremely proud to call her a friend.

From Curt Sumner – NSPS Executive Director Emeritus _

When someone dedicates so much of their time, energy, and talent to insure the success of an endeavor, it is difficult to imagine one
without the other. That is how I think about Dorothy Calegari and the numerous surveyors, and surveying organizations, she has served
        and nurtured.

From John Wilusz- Editor, California Surveyor from 2006 to 2015 _
Congratulations to Dorothy Calegari for being honored in the Nevada Traverse, Living Legend Edition. Nevada is lucky to have her; in
California she has been a living legend for quite some time.

I first met Dorothy through the California Land Surveyors Association (CLSA), and when I joined in 1995 and she was already a legend.
She started working for CLSA in 1973 and was appointed Executive Director in 1978, a post she held until 2015. In 1979, CLSA’s Board
of Directors voted to give her an honorary land surveyor’s license. In 2008 the directors voted to make her an honorary life member.
In 2011, CLSA created the Dorothy Calegari Distinguished Service Award, the Association’s highest service recognition, awarded to
individuals demonstrating long-term exemplary service to the land surveying profession. That is to say, the kind of service Dorothy and
her staff provided to CLSA. Through that service they earned the respect and admiration of land surveyors throughout California.

I got to know Dorothy during my stint as editor of the California Surveyor from 2006 to 2015. During that time, I worked with Dorothy
and her staff, Crissy Willson in particular. What happy memories I have of that long and productive collaboration. I really appreciated
Dorothy’s leadership skills and commitment to the betterment of the profession.
She demonstrated that commitment in many ways, among them: her wise leadership in the administration of CLSA; expertly managed
conferences that were both educational and fun, and her dedication to the betterment of the land surveying profession.

The stated aims and objectives of CLSA include the promotion and maintenance of the highest possible standards of professional ethics
and practices, the promotion of public faith in land surveyors and their work, and the promotion and protection of land surveying as a
social and economic influence vital to the welfare of society, community and state. That pretty much sums up what Dorothy Calegari is
        all about.

Again, I am very happy that my friend Dorothy is being recognized by the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors. You could not find a
        more deserving person.

        From Steve Parrish Family_

DOROTHY CALEGARI – A name synonyms with dedication, excellence, superb organization skills, and many other traits that successful
people possess. Dorothy has unselfishly supported our Land Surveying community for decades and is a friend to everyone who knows
her. She has been the go-to person for Land Surveying Conferences in several western states. I met Dorothy about three decades ago
and consider her as one of my best friends. Honoring Dorothy with a “LIVING LEGEND” tribute is well deserved and an expression of the
respect and service she has tirelessly provided for thousands of Land Surveying Conference attendees. We are blessed to know Dorothy
and extend our Love and best wishes for many happy years to come.

        From Ron Nelms_

When I think of Dorothy I see someone who is selfless and dedicated with a deep understanding of the importance of the Land Surveying
profession to our society. She consciously and objectively promotes the surveyor whether they be public or private, business owner or
employee, party chief or rodman, drafter or field crew. I have had the privilege of working alongside her on various committees, and always
found that she was extremely informed and prepared for each meeting. Her morals and ethics are at the highest bar I know. She is one of
the finest persons I know and deserving of the honor of being a Living Legend. Congratulations Dorothy!
