April 14th - Lahanton Chapter Members helped with the ASCE/UESI
ISWS Student Symposium Surveying competition. The competition ADJOURNMENT
required the students to present on a Topographical Survey. Then four President Nancy Almanzan adjourned the meeting at
separate field tasks included Pacing, Leveling, Construction Stakeout, approximately 3:30 PM.

Competition winner, was: Utah State University, and Second Place was
Northern Arizona University.
April 17th – Southern Chapter Members presented at Cimarron-Memorial
High School and then administered the Trig-Star Exam to 5 students.
April 19th – Southern Chapter Members presented at West Career and
Technical Academy High School and administered the Trig-Star exam.
April 20th - Southern Chapter Members presented at Arbor View High
School. They presented to over 50 kids about a career in Land Surveying and
then administered the Trig-Star Exam to 55+ students.
May 8th - Southern Chapter Members presented at Oran K. Gragson El-
ementary School Career Fair. There were approximately 150 kids that came
through 5 different classes to learn about a career in land surveying!
May 16th - Southern Chapter Members presented at Ed W. Clark High
School. They presented to over 80 kids about a career in Land Surveying
and then administered the Trig-Star Exam to 37 students. 2 of the stu-
dents scored 100! One with a time of 26:45 and the other with 50:04. The
3rd place student missed a rounding error to keep her out of 2nd place.
Another GREAT day it was presenting to the kids!
