Dear NSPS Board of Directors:
At their January 21, 2022 Board of Directors meeting, the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors (NALS)

took action to oppose the NSPS proposal to eliminate NSPS members’ vote for election of NSPS Officers.
There are very few ways that NSPS members can participate in the organization and removing their

ability to have a voice in their leadership disenfranchises the membership.
We understand that this proposal stems from the fact that the number of votes received in the last

election was low. However, we caution that using a third‐party email system may contribute to the low
voter turnout. Often these emails do not make it through firewalls and if they do may go directly to

spam.
NALS supports the mission of NSPS and believes in the importance of a national voice. In order for that
voice to be effective, you must have engaged members that feel they are part of the organization, not
just numbers on a sheet. Taking this responsibility away from the members will create a perception that

members are not included.
NALS strongly urges the NSPS Board of Directors to vote no on this proposal.
