                               Message

By: Nancy J. Almanzan, PLS , NALS President
I hope this message finds you well and that you were able to
enjoy the summer. As the days grow shorter and fall approaches,
our members remain busy. I want to take this opportunity to provide
        an association update.
Our Chapters continue to host educational and entertaining
events that keep our membership engaged. Both the Lahon-
tan and Southern Nevada Chapters held social events at local
baseball parks in June. These family friendly events were well
received and helped to build camaraderie. Be sure to subscribe
to the NALS Calendar at NvLandSurveyors.org so that you are
        alerted to upcoming Chapter events.
NALS continues to focus on outreach and workforce development.
We have a dedicated team of members that demonstrate their
commitment to this mission. Outreach events are posted on the
NALS Calendar. If you are interested in volunteering for an outreach
event or, if you have already scheduled an outreach activity, please
        let us know, email nals@nvlandsurveyors.org.
In August, the NALS Education Foundation (NALS EF) held their
annual Scholarship Golf Tournament. The event sold out and was
a great success! Our members enjoyed a beautiful day at Wolf About the Cover...
Run Golf Course and helped to raise over $8000 for land survey-
ing students. Special thanks to the Lahontan Chapter for allowing
the Foundation to host the golf tournament in the Reno area in lieu
of their usual Chapter tournament. Each year the NALS EF awards
thousands of dollars in scholarships as well as financial support for
our students to attend the Conference. If your were not able to at-
tend the tournament but would like to support the Foundation, you
can make a direct donation by contacting the NALS Executive Office
        or online at: https://nvlandsurveyors.org/about_NALS_EF.html
Our association’s membership has more than doubled in the last
five years. As we continue to grow, we are committed to enhancing
member engagement by offering more networking opportunities.
This year, as part of our 50 Anniversary celebration we will host a
                            th
virtual membership appreciation event in December. Watch your
        email for details!
The NALS Conference Committee has been hard at work planning
for 2024. We have a great line up of featured speakers already con-
firmed and we are excited to be sponsoring this conference with our
brethren from Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Wyoming as well
as WestFed! This is shaping up to be one of the best conferences
yet. Be sure to mark your calendar for March 23-26, 2024!
I encourage you to actively participate in our association. There
are opportunities to serve at the local chapter or state level. Your
involvement is essential in shaping our future.
In closing, I want to thank the Board of Directors, Committee Chairs, A composite image of different photos taken from the article
and Members for their dedication to our association and the ad- Living Legend - Carl R. C.de Baca, PLS in this edition of The Nevada Traverse.
